Rusty is an experienced trial attorney in civil and criminal cases. He has handled civil cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, defective products, police brutality, medical malpractice, contract disputes, and business litigation. He has recovered millions of dollars for his clients.
He has handled criminal cases from driving under the influence to murder charges and everything in between, including drug charges, domestic violence charges, theft, and medicare fraud. Rusty is the author of Surviving the Louisiana Criminal Justice System, a book that discusses some of the most common questions his clients have asked him over the years.
He has also handled immigration cases involving asylum, cancellation of removal, and other avenues of removal defense. In addition to removal defense, he has helped numerous clients with other immigration matters such as adjustment of status, naturalization, and petitioning for relatives.
Rusty served as an assistant public defender for three years in Ascension Parish and regularly receives court appointment from the Federal Court system. He has handled multiple jury trials and appeals in both state and federal courts.
Rusty attended Southern University Law Center where he graduated cum laude and participated in both Law Review and Moot Court. He earned his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and he owned and operated a local office equipment company for five years before returning to law school.
